Holistic Bodywork

Holistic Bodywork (massage) is used to help manage a health condition or enhance wellness. It involves manipulating the soft tissues of the body. Massage has been practiced in most cultures, both Eastern and Western, throughout human history, and was one of the earliest tools that people used to try to relieve pain and support nervous system relaxation.

Somatic therapy is a body-centered approach to psychotherapy that emphasizes the connection between mind and body, focusing on how emotions and experiences are stored and processed in the body. It aims to help individuals release tension, trauma, and negative emotions by increasing body awareness and using physical modalities like breathwork, movement, and touch.

Lyndsay is a Registered Acupuncturist and Certified Yoga instructor. Earning her Diploma of Acupuncture from Pacific Rim College in 2017.

Prior to graduating from the 3 year Acupuncture program at Pacific Rim College, Lyndsay was working as an outdoor guide for many years. This was very rewarding work and very taxing on the body. She found that the best way to help out with the aches and pains was thru the movement of yoga and help from her acupuncturist. Noting that after treatments she not only felt better physically but calmer and clearer too. Eventually focusing on wellness and wanting to help others, she decided to make the leap and go study Acupuncture.

Lyndsay believes in weaving the whole lifestyle with the treatments she provides.

She incorporates dietary therapy, lifestyle changes and movement into her treatment plans. Helping people to continue improving their health at home.

Lyndsay has a special interest in the digestive system, mental health and injury recovery using Traditional Chinese Medicine. She understands that using all of the modalities of Chinese Medicine including cupping, moxabustion, gua sha and Chinese Massage can be integral to some of her clients needs.

Lyndsay wants acupuncture to be accessible for everyone and in the future hopes to include affordable Community Acupuncture.

I know how impactful a massage treatment can be, not only for our body, but for our overall well being. My belief is that much of what massage does is present the body with a different sensation — perhaps ease where there usually is tension, warmth where there is usually pain, or a full breath where it usually feels shallow— and this new sensation sticks. This might give us a new pathway of feeling to experience, which may be beneficial for our injury recovery, our experience with chronic pain, or helping us shift into the present moment of our bodies.

My intention is to always be curious and adaptable in my approach, and to find the treatment that bests suits you. This means I recognize that needs and goals may change from treatment to treatment. Creating space for clients to arrive exactly as they are and feel safe is my utmost priority.

I am deeply grateful for the work I do, and to be able to provide a space for people to care for their own wellness. As co-owner of The Ucluelet Wellness Collective, fostering space for self care is a daily routine, and I am so thankful for the opportunity to continue on the legacy of community driven wellness for our local communities.

If you cannot find a treatment time that works for you but are interested in working with me, please contact me via email as I may be able to find a treatment time that is unavailable online. Thank you!

Elena believes in people’s innate capacity to grow and heal. Elena holds a Masters in Counselling Psychology and is registered with the British Columbia Association for Clinical Counsellors (BCACC). Alongside talk therapy modalities, Elena specializes in Somatic and Relational Therapy which explores how experiences resonate and are imprinted in our bodies, what is described as ‘the felt sense’. Our bodies are wise, but we have often learned to disconnect, or ignore the somatic narrative. Somatic and Relational Therapy focuses on incorporating the wisdom of the physical body into the traditional counselling process for a more embodied approach to growth and healing.

Elena is grateful to reside in beautiful Yuułuʔiłʔatḥ territory. She loves the work that she does and is deeply honoured to work with people as they explore new aspects of their lives.
